The Arbitration Court

The Arbitration Court of the Slovak Banking Association (hereinafter AC) was founded on 1st of July 2003. The incentive for its founding was Article 67 of the Act 510/2002 on System of Payments and on changes and amendments to several acts, appointing banks or their association to found an arbitrary court that will have the power to settle disputes regarding system of payments. Settling these disputes is secured by the Chamber for Settling Disputes regarding the System of Payment.

The AC was reinforced in form of the Chamber for Settling Disputes on other commercial or civilian legal relationships, based on a decision of the Slovak Banking Association from 1st of January 2004.

After its founding the AC has made international contacts with its partners abroad. In May 2004 it established cooperation with a representative of the “Finanční arbitr” (financial arbitrary) in the Czech Republic, in June 2005 it took part in an international meeting of FIN-NET members, an organization covering national organizations in financial services area that allow extrajudicial (out-of-court) complaint settlement.
